Cannes Film Festival Today - Kung Fu Panda and Waltz with Bashir
There are two very different animated films being screened at today's Cannes Film Festival. Waltz with Bashir, in competition, is screening today at the Cannes Film Festival. The animated film is directed by Ari Folman. Kung Fu Panda, showing out of competition, is an animated children's movie by Dreamworks (and Dreamworks' fourth screening at Cannes). It features some A-listers as voice talents, such as Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jack Black and Jackie Chan.
Waltz with Bashir Synopsis
One night at a bar, an old friend tells director Ari about a recurring nightmare in which he is chased by 26 vicious dogs. Every night, the same number of beasts.The two men conclude that there’s a connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon War of the early eighties. Ari is surprised that he can’t remember a thing anymore about that period of his life.
Intrigued by this riddle, he decides to meet and interview old friends and comrades around the world. He needs to discover the truth about that time and about himself.
As Ari delves deeper and deeper into the mystery, his memory begins to creep up in surreal images...
Kung Fu Panda Synopsis
Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po is the biggest fan of Kung Fu around - which doesn’t exactly come in handy while working every day in his family’s noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po’s dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five: Tigress, Crane, Mantis,Viper and Monkey - under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu.
But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart - and his girth - into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.
