This is a rare gem amidst a sea of mediocre and overpriced Paris accomodations. Yes, the Victoria Palace is a four-star hotel and, yes, you will pay top dollar to stay here (Rates start at 285 for a deluxe double room and rise to 750 euros for a luxurious 2-bedroom suite). If you have the cash, though, it is worth it.
The staff here is endlessly attentive and helpful. Ask a question, and they will dig until they find the proper answer. Make a request, and it will be delivered to your room within moments. The only exception seemed to be the less helpful attendants and wait staff in the breakfast room.
Even so, the breakfast is better than most you find in French hotels. The room service is wonderful, and it is worthwhile to have a meal in your room one of the evenings you stay here.
One of the best things about this hotel is all the little touches they have added: robes and slippers, the next day's weather forecast (in celcius and farenheit) delivered nightly, tasty chocolates for the turn-down service.
The location, while not technically in the center of Paris, is still a good one. Located in the wonderful Montparnasse neighborhood, it's a short walk to some attractions, shopping and wonderful dining. Buses and the Metro stops are prolific here, and you can easily reach almost anywhere in the city. The hotel itself is on a quiet side road. While it's just a few steps from the action, this keeps the rooms peaceful.
