Toulouse may be in the heart of the lesser-known and less discovered Midi Pyrenees, but it features airports, rail stations and extensive bus transportation options. Here are quick tips on getting around Toulouse and the Midi Pyrenees.

Toulouse’s rail station is a busy one, with trains frequently passing through en route west to Bordeaux or east to the French Riviera. Many of the area’s larger cities.

Flying to Toulouse

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport is served by a few major carriers, including British Airways and Aer Lingus. Although you won’t get a non-stop flight from, say, Kansas City, you can probably find one connecting through a U.K. hub.

Transportation from Toulouse Airport

Once you arrive in the airport, you are quite close to the city’s downtown. Save cab fare by taking the Société Courriers de la Garonne shuttle (site in French). Tickets can be purchased at entrance C, and cost 4.00€ one-way or 6.40€ round-trip (when last checked, but obviously subject to change).

The shuttle runs every 20 minutes daily from 7:35 a.m. to 8:20 p.m. The shuttle also serves the train station, operating daily from 5 a.m. to 8:20 p.m.

Toulouse Metro

Toulouse and its surrounding area are well served by its metro system, which has dozens of lines and stretches out to the city’s suburbs.

Transportation Around the Midi Pyrenees

Albi is also served well by public transportation via its Albi Bus. The ticket is only 1€ and is good for one-way and a transfer, if necessary, or you can buy a 10-ticket pass for 7€.
