Francoise Rebord makes useful, everyday pottery and ceramics in her atelier, a combination studio and shop in the ancient village center of Beaucaire, France. Mme. Rebord's pottery is full of the sunshine colors of the South of France. Her ceramics -- bowls, mugs, jugs, vases -- are the desireable kinds of objects people like to bring back from vacations in Provence.

They're for sale, of course, but if you have a little time -- as little as an hour in fact -- she'll teach you the secrets of her pottery and ceramics and you can make a piece of your own to take home. Vacation length courses range from intensive introductions covering all aspects of pottery and ceramics making, to short sessions in decorating or using a potters' wheel. Most courses can be taken by children up to 12-years-old -- something to think about if you are traveling with grandchildren or in a family group.

Mme. Rebord's pottery and ceramics courses can be booked through the Beaucaire Office of Tourism , Tel: 011 33 4 66 59 26 57 which can also provide English-language information and can make suggestions and reservations for hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation.
