It's always fun to go into artists studios on open days. You can see their work, buy at good prices, and talk to the creators (many of them do speak English).
This weekend, December 1st and 2nd, 16 artists working in the 20th arrondissement near Le Pere Lachaise Cemetery (a quartier full of artists and craftsmen), open their studios. Photographs, painters, sculptors, engravers and more offer all kinds of work. It's a great chance to see inside Parisian homes, and also to buy one-off presents.
Go onto the website www.apla.fr for a brochure of information and a map of the locations.
At the Librairie Equipages, 61 rue de Bagnolet, Paris 20 (tel 06 66 29 92 66), you can get more information and a map, and also see an exhibition by the participating artists that will run from December 1st to 30th.
