Singer/songwriters are highly popular in France and the chanson tradition lives on in different festivals and events. One of the best is the Champagne Nights Festival in the delightful, medieval city of Troyes, taking place from October 28th to November 3rd, 2012.
Around 25 concerts take place in various venues in central Troyes, from the Theatre de Champagne to L'Espace Argence which also has a special space where you can mingle with other music lovers and meet the performers. The most spectacular are the concerts in conjunction with this year's honored guest, the composer Maxime Le Forestier, whose works are performed by a massive choir of 850 singers on three nights.
That's not all; you can find music in many of the bars and restaurants in Troyes in the Festival Off Off Off program. Expect off-center artists like the definitely different pop artist, This is the hello monster, on October 31st at the Crieurs de Vin, and Fake Oddity at Le Gainz' Bar on November 2nd. And the price of admission at these venues? Just the price of your drinks.
