The sun may be shining and people might still be swimming in the seas around France, but at the end of the month, on September 29th, the first of the French skiing resorts opens for business. Tignes is high up in the northern Alps, near Val d'Isere, and has the great advantage of its mighty glacier, La Grande Motte, towering above it. The slopes start from here where the glacier is 3,000 meters high. Tignes is definitely aimed at the young with plenty of extreme sports and thrills. You can try ice-diving, ice-driving, snowboarding, freeride skiing and more in the resort.
