Who Should Be on the France Travel Blogroll?
I know quite a few of my own favorite blogs that have more than earned a place of honor on this list. But the cool part about blogging is the interaction and participation of its readers, so I have decided to let you guys create my new blogroll.
Here's how it will work. Do you own or love a blog about France travel, life in France, French culture, French food (yum!) or French language? It would need to cover something of interest to people traveling to France, in essence.
It's OK if it focuses on a particular region or city, but it must focus on France (for example, a general travel blog would not count). If you do, leave a comment below. It's perfectly OK if it's your own blog (hey, I happen to think my France blog is tres chic too), but be sure to state that.
Make your nomination in the comments, and I will narrow that down to a list of the most nominated blogs. Then I will put it to a vote so you, my readers, can determine which are the best France blogs.

Hi Kelby,
I’d like to nominate my own France blog! I started Parisian Spring while living in Paris, and have continuted to focus on all things French even after my return to the U.S. I give travel tips, compare French and U.S. culture, praise and critique French society, and report on French news all within the confines of my little blog. Feel free to contact me with questions. Thank you for your consideration.
Tanya
I have two France related blogs:
http://paris.artist-at-large.com
http://occitan.artist-at-large.com
I love France and hope that my passion for the country comes through on the sites!
Lots of interest in the Tour de France with the return of Lance Armstrong this year. Not much info out there for travelers, blog written to help people plan a self-guided trip to the Tour de France.
hi
I would like to nominate my paris blog
http://www.eyepreferparis.com. It’s a very popular blog
(almost 2,00o subscribers)that’s an insiders guide to Pairs written by a savvy ex-New Yorker Richard Nahem. Posts are about restaurants, museums, nightlife, culture, fashion &shopping, beautiful parks & gardens, architecture, and much more with fantastic photos.
There’s some fun monthly features like the Door of the month, where I photograph a beautiful old door once a month, Eye Need to Do’s , a short list of current cultural activities, and Parisian of the Month, where I interview an interesting Parisian every month.
I have two: Paris Daily Photo, Eric Tenin’s wonderful daily visual treat http://www.parisdailyphoto.com, and French Word a Day http://french-word-a-day.typepad.com
by Kristin Espinasse, a gifted writer and photographer who shares her inspired perceptions of daily life in Provence.
I think Invisible Paris (http://www.invisibleparis.net) should be nominated. It’s about the only blog on the city that covers aspects that tourists (and locals!) would never normally look at, without any of the normal obnoxiousness of the ex-pat writer. It covers history, architecture and culture, and the guy knows the city better than most of the Parisians themselves!
I would like to nominate I Prefer Paris http://www.eyepreferparis.com with its terrific posts about food and shops and lovely photos of hidden treasures of Paris, including architectural details in arrondissements all over the city.
I nominate http://www.eyepreferparis.com. ,http://www.parisdailyphoto.com/ and http://french-word-a-day.typepad.com/
These are all blogs that I either subscribe to or read daily!
not really a travel blog but this was one of the first blogs I stumbled upon and I just LOVE the concept
http://www.09h09.com/
maybe readers could use the eng/fr translation to brush up on their french before traveling!
My favorite French blogs are:
http://www.eyepreferparis.com
http://www.parisdailyphoto.com
http://french-word-a-day.typepad.com
They are magnifique!!!
I nominate eyepreferparis.com. Richard Nahem’s blog brings Paris to life on my desktop every morning. The blog’s elegant design, excellent photography and minimal text are sheer pleasure–a don’t miss experience.
Sally Peabody is a Paris Specialist and writer focused on Paris who has just launched a blog “Enjoying Paris On and Off the Beaten Path”. This replaces her popular e-newsletter and will feature snapshots of terrific artisans, shops, emerging quarters that are ‘hot’, interesting things to do and experience in Paris.
Sally’s website is http://www.yourgreatdaysinparis.com
Thanks for considering this very new blog.. it will be a good one for Paris lovers.
I read eyepreferparis.com every day and have toured with Richard. Also Kristin Espinasse’s http://french-word-a-day.typepad.com for photos and daily life in Provence. Both super!
I would like to nominate my favorite French/Paris blog: http://www.eyepreferparis.com. Everyday brings something new and interesting about Paris. Places to see, eat and shop or just some of the most beautiful parts of the most beautiful city in the world. Makes me want to book a return trip to Paris on a daily basis!
I would like to nominate http://ipreferparis.typepad.com/i_prefer_paris/…very informative, and answered my email query very quickly…excellent!
http://www.eyepreferparis.com.
My favorite newsletter and blog is http://www.eyepreferparis.com. Richard Nahem explores little corners of Paris, not as a tourist typically would, but only as an “insider” can. He appreciates and introduces us to the true local culture and all that it has to offer! He shares daily via his blog and newsletter all that is interesting and different, not the mundane. It is my daily treat with my morning coffee!
I would like to recommend http://www.eyepreferparis.com. We live in Paris part of the year and when we are away it is a rewarding way to keep in touch. Every posting is a welcome surprise, and Richard offers a great mix of things funny, informative, political, edible, touching, beautiful, thoughtful, and just plain fun–and all about Paris and France. When I see it in my list of e-mails in the morning, it is the first thing I read and a happy way to start the day.
As someone who loves Paris and wishes she could live there, I look forward to Richard’s daily e-mails. He covers a wide variety of subjects with photos and has an eye for details that make discovering a city pleasurable.
I guess it depends what you want from your blogs. Eric’s Parisdailyphoto is intelligent and succint, but Richard’s is mostly shameless plugging for walking tours! Peter’s Paris covers the city in the most detail (http://peter-pho2.blogspot.com/), whilst InvisibleParis has the most interesting writing.
I would like to nominate Richard Nahem’s http://www.eyepreferparis.com. I love this blog…His photos and descriptions make me want to be in Paris and visit every beautiful door he features, every garden, boulevard, restaurant. I save them all so I can select places to see on my next trip there.
My favourite french related blogs are

The best France blog is, in my opinion, “Tongue in Cheek.” Here’s the link:
http://willows95988.typepad.com/
It’s written by an American living in the south of France, with, as she calls him, “French husband.” She covers antique shopping (the brocantes), cooking, her French friends, stories about her Provencal village, and the experiences of her family.
It’s full of warm, heartfelt and beautifully told stories. In this post, for example, her 80 year old neighbor cooks French stuffed cabbage: http://willows95988.typepad.com/tongue_cheek/2009/03/stuffed-cabbage.html
We get the recipe and last week we learned about her experiences in the town during WWII. And here’s a story on shopping the antique fairs:

Without a doubt, the best blog about life in France is “Tongue in Cheek.”
It’s written by an American living in Provence with “French husband.” Stories about antiques, cooking and small town life.

Corey’s blog is about living in France (not just about Paris—) it is about passion, food, brocantes, local people and her family.
You get a sense of real life, and a holiday experience all in one.
Corey Amaro has a most wonderful blog about France. The way she describes her life there makes me want to move there too.
http://willows95988.typepad.com/tongue_cheek/
You should definitely include Tongue in Cheek on your list of great French blogs. COrey has written it every day for more than two years and is an inspiration on all things French, especially brocante, food and gorgeous photos of Southern France.

Only one:
http://willows95988.typepad.com/
Being French, I take most pleasure and fun to visit this blog daily and to see my country and the French from her point of view.
I read Corey Amaro’s Tongue in Cheek everyday with my coffee. She is an American that grew up in California and married a Frenchman. She writes about day to day French life, sometimes with humor or sweetly poignant. Corey is able to shine light on the intricacies of an American in France with a fresh eye.
http://willows95988.typepad.com/
Please include Corey’s “Tongue in Cheek” blog, written by an American (from California) living in France with her French Husband and children. It is especially insightful for people who imagine themselves being transported to France, and what daily life is like there.
http://www.willows95988.typepad.com/
Corey shares her heart and soul with the readers at her blog. She’s an accomplished writer and an amazing photographer. Please add her blog to the list. http://willows95988.typepad.com/
Corey Amaro’s blog Tongue and Cheek, brings France home. Corey is an American living in France with her “French Husband”, and family. Through her brilliant photography and creative writing style, Corey touches our life daily by sharing collected stories of living and loving in France. Through Corey’s blog I can visit the brocante, learn the secrets of treasure hunting, sip a café latte, smell the beautiful flowers, all without leaving my home! If you love to learn about France, life and love, visit Corey at Tongue and Cheek. http://willows95988.typepad.com/
Hi there,
I think Corey Amaro’s blog would be a great choice. I have learned so much about France from reading Corey’s blog everyday.
http://www.willows95988.typepad.com/
Thanks,
Rosemary
Tongue in Cheek is my favorite French blog. Remember, Paris is not France and France is not Paris!
http://www.willows95988.typepad.com/
I am new to blog reading, but am addicted to Tongue in Cheek. It is a must read. Corey is down to earth and kind hearted and while embracing her French life has not forsaken her American roots.

I would like to nominate my dear friend’s blog
http://willows95988.typepad.com/tongue_cheek/
Thank you

From southern France, but not strictly about them, we enjoy:
http://french-word-a-day.typepad.com
http://willows95988.typepad.com/
http://azuralive.com
The first two reflect the lives & observations of their American-born authors about their lives in France (one in the Var and around Marseille).
AzurAlive focuses on the greater French Riviera and in particular, on exploring the region on foot. That’s a slow travel philosophy that agrees with us.

I’d like to nominate http://www.lost-in-france.com/expat-blogs
I would like to nominate Corey Amaro’s French blog, Tongue In Cheek. The address is

Hands down, French blog and otherwise, the BEST is blog ever is Corey’s Tongue in Cheek Blog, http://www.willows95988.typepad.com. Truly a magic carpet ride, visuals and commentary are brilliant. It is like reading a never-ending story! And my hope is that it never ends.
Cheers,
Leslie
Can I nominate my blog – I’m Decanter magazine’s Bordeaux correspondent, so it is very much wine related, but that is one of the things that makes France great! http://newbordeaux.blog.co.uk/
Thankyou.
Tara Bradford has a nice blog, although she doesn’t always stay on the topic of Paris:
http://parisparfait.typepad.com/
is an outstanding account of the Harris family as they moved their family from the Pacific Northwest to live in Paris for three to five years.
I love Corey Amaro’s Tongue in Cheek (willows95988.typepad.com). It’s the first thing I look at every morning right after I grab my coffee. It’s as close to living in France as I can come (so far). Beautiful photos, recipes, sentiment, etc. LOVE IT!
I would enthusiastically like to nominate Corey Amaro’s blog, “Tongue in Cheek,” a charming, thoughtful collection of stories written as she lives in and loves France. Her accompanying photographs are exquisite. Corey’s site is bookmarked in my “Favorites” at home and a work; and I have shared her well-written site with all my family and friends. Her blog is a “must not miss!” Please, enjoy!

I like Paris Daily Photo, and I love Charles Bremner’s blog — he’s a seasoned journalist who writes for The Times. My own blog is Foreign Parts, http://foreignparts.typepad.com. Hope you all like it!
