Tucked into a rounded nook of the Lot River, Cahors is a lovely medieval city almost entirely surrounded by water. At the heart of wine country, the city’s most memorable landmark is the Valentré bridge and the nearby ramparts.
The amazing sites here range from the 1300s-era Valentré Bridge to nearby cave paintings, and from a stunning cathedral to area truffle markets.

Yes, couldn’t agree more – Cahors was a place I chanced upon whilst driving through France several years ago. Having simply decided to visit as just a place to ’stay the night’whilst on the way fom A to B, I found it to be totally enchanting. From staying in a 300 y.o. pension, to the following day’s vist to Peche Merle, and lovely gustation, I can certainly and thoroughly recommend the enchantment and allure of Cahors.
