Give a Trip to France as a Christmas Gift
Wednesday November 12, 2008
OK, so this might not be sitting under my tree this year, and I'll try not to mourn that. But just think how impressed someone on your Christmas gift list would be to actually get a trip to France? As a disclaimer, you should be sure to consult the warnings in my article on giving the gift of travel. But here are some wonderful trips, packages, tours or passes you can get for that special someone on your list. If you want to give yourself a gift, book something so you can travel together!
- Buy a Rail Pass, which is especially ideal since they don't have set dates and travel can commence up to six months from now. That would allow the gift recipient to save this for use in warm weather.
- Book a Buyback Lease Car Rental, which can also be done for dates even a year or so into the future.
- Book a Stay at a French Ski Resort, which hits peak season in January and February. The Pyrenees and Alps are stunning in France.
- Book a trip during one of France's wonderful events and festivals. There are some great Mardi Gras celebrations, as well as the Cannes Film Festival and the Tour de France.
- Book a trip to one of France's world-renown spa resorts or spa towns.
- Give your gift recipient a taste of summer by booking a trip to one of France's best beaches.
- If you know someone is planning to visit Paris, give them a little something extra for their trip by booking a Paris tour or prepay for a room at a great Paris hotel.

General World Travel Information - Things you should do before you take that much needed vacation. Before you go and see the World.
Find out where you’re going. Take the time to read up on where you’re going. Find out what has to be seen or the best restaurant to eat at. Knowing a bit before hand can help you pack and plan.

I agree with the above commetns that some pre-planning can help, but keep in mind that go-and-see will give you some nice surprises. I recommend stepping out of the tourist tracks : rent a car and head for the countryside, small towns and villages. See my pages with photos from France for some inspiration. Enjoy your stay and welcome to France. Denis
