Tour de France 2007 - Chablis to Autun

Thursday July 12, 2007
Chablis on the Tour de FranceToday's Tour de France starts in the lovely and historic village of Chablis, probably better known for its namesake wine than as a French municipality. Chablis is a small town surrounded by vineyards. While many wines throw out the term Chablis, the only true Chablis in the world comes from about 15,000 acres here.

This is an ultimate destination for wine aficionados, and is nestled in the Burgundy region of France about two hours south of Paris.

Autun on the Tour de FranceThe Tour de France stage will end in Autun, an ideal destination for lovers of Gallo-Roman and medieval history. The city, dating back two millennia, features amazing architecture, historic sites and sculpture. The 12th-century Saint Lazare Cathedral and the ancient Roman theater are must-see attractions.

Even if you can't be there, you can still follow Le Tour in spirit: Tour de France 2007
