Tour de France winner Floyd Landis failed a drug test, his Phonak team says, tested positive for high levels of testosterone during the race, according to SI.com.

The announcement came just days after he made an impressive comeback to win the 2006 Tour de France, keeping the championship in the hands of an American after Lance's departure from the competition. It also closes out a Tour de France that already suffered blows of drug controversies, with favorites to win this year's race eliminated from the race in the midst of a drug scandal.
