Tour de France 2006 Stage 14 - Montelimar to Gap
Sunday July 16, 2006
The day's racing begins in Montelimar, featuring Mediterranean facades, Provencal markets and the home to nougat, truffles and lavendar. The Tour de France winds the day in Gap, a sporting southern Alpine village with some of France's finest cuisine. Visitors can sample Champsaur pies, Tomes cheese, pate and grilled or roasted lamb. Special native dishes include Tourtons made with potatoes, fine herbs, meat or prunes and Oreilles d'âne (Donkey's Ears) made out of a gratin of fresh spinach pasta and local cheese, as well as Gap Ravioli made from a potato gratin put in the oven with milk, cream, butter and grated cheese.
