Tour de France 2006 Stage 6 - Lisieux to Vitre

Friday July 7, 2006
The Tour de France will commence in Lisieux, a captivating town featuring the 15th and 16th century Saint Germain de Livet chateau and its mementos of artists like Delacroix and Daudet. It is an ideal destination for sampling Norman specialties like cheeses, cider and calvados. The day's racing ends in Vitre, a medieval fortified village with a chateau built on a rocky outcrop. Its narrow streets are lined with charming timbered buildings.

Today's results: Robbie McEwen achieved his third Tour de France stage victory in 2006. Tom Boonen still hasn’t been able to win a stage, but he does get to spend another day in the yellow jersey
