Making Plans for Mardi Gras in France

It is almost time for the annual Mardi Gras revelry. As New Orleans rebuilds, however, consider indulging in two French celebrations, or "Carnavals," that predate the Louisiana tradition by centuries. In Nice, thousands from around the globe descend on this lovely coastal city for its annual Nice Carnaval, which began during the Middle Ages. Just as steeped in history, the festive Limoux Carnaval is an amazing festival of food, masks and music.
