Tour de France Daily Blog - Stage Nineteen

Friday July 22, 2005
The tour is beginning to come to a close, with just two more stages after today. The day's racing begins in Issoire, a lovely village with the beautiful Saint-Austremoine Church and an intriguing clock tower. This is a picturesque and ideal destination for hikers, horseback riders, kayakers and mountain bikers. The day ends in Le Puy en Velay, situated in the Massif Central mountain range. The area is a popular starting point for the Santiago de Compostella pilgrims. It is well-known for its lentils, laces and liquors.
