Tour de France 2005 Daily Blog - Stage Sixteen

Tuesday July 19, 2005
The take-off today is from Mourenx, a small city known for its big sporting spirit. With a mere 8,000-person population, it has a water sports complex and a national women's basketball team. The day's racing ends in Pau, a city with an amazing location near the Pyrenees, Spain, Lourdes and Tarbes. The city's finest attraction is its legendary chateau, where the future King Henry IV was born and rocked in a tortoise-shell cradle (still on display there). Pau is the ideal destination for any Tour de France fan, having hosted 59 stages since 1930.
