The Tour de France remains in Germany today, starting at Pforzheim. Called the "City of Gold," this Black Forest area city previously welcomed the tour in 1987. Most of Germany's jewelry is made here. The day ends in G้rardmer, the third largest city in the Vosges. Nestled in the Valley of the Lakes, it features a casino, France's oldest tourist office and wonderful recreational opportunities.
Results and standings
The Germans attacked today, with Jens Voigt climbing to second-place overall. Today's mountain climb left Lance Armstrong with no support from his teammates. He described the day succinctly: "Un jour de merde!"
