Cannes Film Festival May 17 Report: Bill Murray's Artsy Side
Tuesday May 17, 2005
OK. Seeing, "Lost in Translation," certainly convinced most people that Bill Murrary can do the deeper, art film. Believe it or not, this is the fourth time since 1993 a film starring Murray has been screened at Cannes. What a contrast to his groundhog-chasing, "Caddyshack," days. Well, Murray gets another chance to impress during today's showing of, "Broken Flowers." Directed by indie favorite Jim Jarmusch, this movie has a fascinating cast: Jessica Lang, Julie Delpy, Jeffrey Wright, Sharon Stone, Frances Conroy, Tilda Swinton. Whew!! Murray plays Don, a dejected, recently dumped guy who learns he has a teenage son with a former lover. He learns about this mystery child via an anonymous letter from a former lover, prompting him on a cross-country oddysey to visit former girlfriends. Also screening today:
