Cannes Film Festival May 11 Report: Opening Night

Wednesday May 11, 2005
The 2005 Cannes Film Festival will open this evening with much pomp and circumstance. The day's showings will just feature the festival's opening film, "Lemming," a French movie directed by Dominik Moll. Starring Charlotte Rampling and Alain Getty, the film follows a genius and his wife Benedectine's experiences moving to a new town. It follows the chaos of this fish out of water story. Here is an excerpt:
ALICE: How long have you been living with Alain?
BENEDICTE: Three years.
ALICE: Aren't you scared about when it get worse?
BENEDICTE: When what get worse?
ALICE: I don't know... Everything.
BENEDICTE: Do you thing it necessarily gets worse?
ALICE: No. Obviously not.
