The Cannes Fim Festival puts film makers and actors on the map. Even low-budget ventures by unknowns that get the Cannes stamp of approval usually go on to blockbuster box office success. Even if they don't, there's little doubt the films are gems. Some of the top movies ever honored by the prestigious judges are featured on my Top Cannes Film Festival Winning Movies on Video.
While we're on the subject of flicks, why not indulge in your own film fest? My list of Top Movies Set in France features a movie with some Cannes scenes and another film that is set entirely at the festival. Shoot, you can plan a big old festival party. Most of us can't get to Cannes, and a very lucky few get inside the festival. So what? Rent some DVDs and Throw a France-Themed Party. Glamour and glitz isn't just for the rich and famous.
